This year's JavaOne 2006 conference will feature both a Mobility Village in the Pavilion and a Mobility track within the technical program. This session discusses the evolution of the Java™ Platform, Micro Edition (Java™ ME) and Java Card™ platforms, highlighting several cutting-edge wireless data services in the market, and how developers can take advantage of new capabilities in the Java ME and Java Card platforms to build compelling services for the mobile and embedded systems markets.
Nokia will demonstrate to Java developers how Nokia platforms offer a great market opportunity in North America and an unsurpassed global opportunity, across multiple market segments. Nokia mobile device volume in North America is up 95% in the last year, to a total of over 8 million devices in 1Q2006. Applications developed for Nokia platforms open the largest world-wide opportunity with 350 million devices shipped through December, 2005. Developers received an estimated 340 Million Euro in Java download revenue for Nokia devices in 2005 alone.
