I got involved in the world of Symbian OS through an internship at Siemens Mobile, developing augmented-reality 3D software for the Siemens SX1. During that time, I founded my own company, Mopius, and published several mobile games.
The most popular games are from The Journey series: location-based mobile adventure games that do not require additional global positioning system (GPS) hardware and therefore run on any S60 device. In total, these games have already been downloaded more than 100,000 times, and they have established themselves as a reference for location-based games, being cited in almost every scientific document dealing with this topic.
Recently, I started working as an assistant professor for mobile computing at the University of Applied Sciences in Hagenberg, Austria (www.fh-ooe.at/index.php?id=90). I am responsible for managing projects related to Symbian OS. All of the Symbian OS course materials are available for free to the general public at www.symbianresources.com/. They have proved very popular in helping new developers get started with Symbian OS development.
