I used to be a classic wireless and Internet developer, but in 2003 I discovered my real passion -- mobile games. I earned a master’s degree in the subject and devoted myself completely to it. I started teaching a game creation course at the engineering faculty of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and it quickly became one of the university’s most popular courses.

With help from my students, I organized Chile’s first-ever game-creation competition for students. The award ceremony for the second competition was in December 2006. The results were great: Developers, who included 45 student game developers, submitted 18 games.

I am also founder of AmnesiaGames, a mobile games development company. We develop Java™ Platform, Micro Edition (Java™ ME) games and games for short message service (SMS), multimedia messaging service (MMS), and WAP, and we specialize in the integration of technologies. Recently, we won an innovation competition with a demo of our interactive TV-game project. Players see the game on a specific TV channel and play using their mobile phones in place of game console joysticks.

In June 2006 I was elected the first president of the Chilean Association of Video Game Developers (AchiGames). The association, formed with the goal of fostering Chile’s game development industry, is currently finishing the process to achieve legal status.
