Series 40 Platform SDKs
Series 40 5th Edition SDK
The Series 40 5th Edition SDK is the reference implementation SDK for the Series 40 Platform 5th Edition. The SDK enables developers to quickly and efficiently run and test Java applications as well as browser and Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) content. It also includes JSR-248 Mobile Service Architecture Subset implementation.
The latest version of the SDK (Feature Pack 1) is based on the Nokia 6500 slide phone and provides for example support for the newest technology version (2.1.1) of Adobe's Macromedia Flash Lite and includes JSR-211 Content Handler API.
Series 40 Platform 3rd Edition SDK
The Series 40 Platform 3rd Edition SDK is the reference implementation SDK for the Series 40 Platform 3rd Edition. The SDK enables developers to quickly and efficiently run and test Java applications as well as browser and Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) content. The product consists of an emulator, Java APIs, documentation, sample code and debugging tools. Applications and content can be created, compiled, and packaged using popular integrated development environments (IDEs) and the behavior and phone compatibility tested in the SDK directly from the IDE. Multiple instances of the emulator can be run to verify connectivity features.
The latest version of the SDK is based on the Nokia 5300 Xpress Music phone and provides for example support for the newest technology version (2.0) of Adobe's Macromedia Flash Lite.
Series 40 Platform 2.0 SDK
The Series 40 Platform 2.0 SDKs enable developers to quickly and efficiently run and test Java™ applications or display content for devices that are compatible with the Series 40 Platform specification. The products consist of an emulator, APIs, documentation, and debugging tools. The behavior of applications or content is emulated by importing and running it in the SDK emulator, thus enabling development and testing without a device. Applications can be created, compiled, and packaged using compatible integrated development environments (IDEs). A text editor and command-line tools can also be used to create and compile an application and verify its functionality. Multiple instances of the emulator can be run to verify connectivity features.
