To develop Flash Lite applications for a mobile device, you need the following:
A computer workstation. A PC with Microsoft Windows operating system or an Apple Macintosh is required.
You can download free plugins for Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe Flash 8 Professional that support later Flash Lite versions. Fully upgraded, Adobe Flash CS3 supports Flash Lite up to version 3.0 and Flash 8 supports Flash Lite up to version 2.1.
In addition to the requirements listed above, it is recommended that you use the following tools for testing the functionality of the Flash Lite movie:
Adobe Device Central is a tool for testing mobile content in various mobile emulators. It is included in the Adobe Flash CS3 Professional installation and has several updates available, which expand the range of supported devices.
Note: In Flash 8 Professional IDE, the emulators are not handled with Adobe Device Central. You must instead install Device Profile Updates and manage them using Adobe Extension Manager.
A mobile device to test the application. Refer to the device user guide for instructions on how to transfer content to a mobile device using a tool such as Nokia PC Suite.
Different mobile devices support different versions of Flash Lite. Choose a device that runs the Flash Lite version for which you are targeting your application. To find out which mobile devices support which Flash Lite versions, see document Flash-enabled devices at FlashDevices.net and Device Specifications at Forum Nokia.
Note: Depending on the operator and region, some mobile devices may ship with a different version of Flash Lite Player or not include a Flash Lite Player at all. The two device lists above refer to baseline device specifications.
In order to be able to make more advanced S60-specific applications, you need to install additional software described in section Software requiremets.
