Nokia Download Manager is a download manager application that helps Nokia's portal or website users to download content reliably and safely to their workstations.
There are many good reasons to use Nokia Download Manager. Here are few of them:
This download manager requires your browser to have Java Standard Edition 2, Runtime Environment v1.4 or later installed. This free application execution environment integrates Java Plug-in into your browser that makes it possible for the browser to execute Java applications.
Java plug-in comes free with free Java 2 Standard Edition Runtime Environment. This application can be freely downloaded from SUN Microsystems website. This website address is http://www.java.com.
When you first time execute Nokia Download Manager it checks whether you have the required Java plug-in and if you don't have that installed it will be automatically installed.
Nokia Download Manager is secured with code signing certificate. This provides users certainty that Nokia Download Manager application was not modified in anyway when it was provided from Nokia portal or website to the end-user. It also proves that this software was actually produced by Nokia.
Nokia Download Manager supports secure downloads (using HTTPS protocol).
All operating systems that are supported by Java Runtime Environment will support Nokia Download Manager. Partial list of supported operating systems: All Windows OSes, Solaris 7 & 8 & 9, Linuxes and Apple OS X.
All browsers that support Java plug-in are supported. These browsers are in practice all major browser. Partial list of supported browsers is: Internet Explorer 4 & 5 & 6, Netscape 4.5 and newer, Mozilla all versions, Safari browser all versions.
Please note that currently Opera browsers are not supported.
