Aptana Studio is a popular web-development environment that offers integrated language support for HTML, DOM, JavaScript™, and CSS technologies, as well as embedded development platforms and databases for PHP, Jaxer, Ruby on Rails, and Python. Aptana Studio is available free of charge under an open source licence, and is based on the Eclipse framework.
The Nokia WRT Plug-in for Aptana Studio provides features that enable the creation, editing, testing, and deployment of WRT widgets from within Aptana Studio.
WRT widgets are small, task-focused web applications that are installed and run in the same way as other S60 applications. WRT widgets allow websites or web services to be optimised for use on S60 devices. Because they’re easy to develop and use, WRT widgets are ideal for driving traffic to your website from S60 devices.
For more information, visit the WRT technology page »
Nokia WRT Plug-in 2.2 for Aptana Studio is now available. This new version enables the plug-in to be installed on computers running Linux based Ubuntu 8.04 and Apple Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Details of the installation procedure for this new release are provided on the Update Site for Nokia Web Runtime Plug-in for Aptana Studio.
S60 WRT widgets use standard web technologies, such as HTML and JavaScript™. Aptana Studio is a tool designed to make working with standard web technologies straightforward.
The Nokia WRT Plug-in for Aptana Studio adds the features WRT widget developers need to develop with Aptana Studio. These features allow existing WRT widget packages and widget projects to be imported or new projects to be created easily. WRT widget code can then be written rapidly using features such as full JavaScript code completion for the WRT 1.1 API. Once the widget has been coded, the plug-in provides features to preview, debug, package, and deploy the widget. In addition, the plug-in includes the WRTKit library, which contains images and JavaScript code to enable the creation of visually appealing and functionally rich WRT widgets. And you have the freedom to use the plug-in on a computer running the Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X (including Mac OS X Snow Leopard), or the Linux based Ubuntu 8.04 operating system.
The Nokia WRT Plug-in for Aptana Studio enables you to use your favourite web-authoring tool to develop useful, exciting WRT widgets that maximise the traffic to your website or web service from S60 devices.
