Future S60 devices may offer users more than two storage locations: In addition to the device memory and a memory card, devices may include a second memory card slot or internal mass storage. The Multiple Drive Support (MDS) Plug-in provides the APIs necessary to access these multiple user-visible drives.
For more information on the S60 platform, visit the S60 platform page »
Using the MDS Plug-in, you can update your applications to provide users with the ability to open and save files to any of the storage locations that will become available in future devices.
The plug-in contains:
To make use of the MDS Plug-in, you should already be familiar with the S60 APIs that provide services for file and drive handling as well as those that provide the UI for accessing files and drives.
Before installing the plug-in, you will have already installed the S60 3rd Edition SDK for Symbian OS, Feature Pack 2. It is recommended that you use the MDS Plug-in only in an installation of the SDK that does not have other plug-ins installed. Once your SDK is ready, you install the plug-in by extracting it to the folder in which your SDK is installed.
For more information, download and read the Multiple Drive Support Users Guide »
You can use the plug-in to add support for multiple drives to applications for S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2 and newer devices.
