The SNAP Mobile SDK provides all the resources you’ll need to develop games for the SNAP Mobile platform.

The SDK includes the SNAP Mobile API libraries, the SNAP Mobile Emulation Environment application, the SNAP Mobile Device and Network Test MIDlet, a sample game and other sample applications, and documentation.

What are the SNAP Mobile API libraries?

The SNAP Mobile API libraries give SNAP Mobile games the ability to access the features offered by the SNAP Mobile Community server. SNAP Mobile SDK 2.2 includes object-oriented APIs that make it easier than ever to quickly and efficiently add SNAP Mobile features to your applications. The APIs are fully documented in the Javadoc™ documentation that’s delivered with the SDK.

For more information, download and read the SNAP Mobile API Javadoc™ »

What’s the SNAP Mobile Emulation Environment?

The SNAP Mobile Emulation Environment application, which runs on a local PC, allows testing of SNAP Mobile games without connecting to a live SNAP Mobile Community server. The SNAP Mobile Emulation Environment includes debugging features and supports precompliance testing to ensure that your game conforms with the SNAP Mobile Standard Game Requirements (SGR).

For more information, download and read SNAP Mobile: Game Compliance Testing Guide »

What’s the SNAP Mobile Device and Network Test?

Not all devices that use Java™ technology are created equal, and not all networks welcome third-party data traffic. Before devoting development time to a SNAP Mobile project, you should ensure that you’ll be building for a device or network that supports SNAP Mobile. The SDK includes the SNAP Mobile Device and Network Test MIDlet, which lets you determine whether the devices and operator networks you’ve targeted are compatible with SNAP Mobile.

For more information, download and read SNAP Mobile: Device and Network Test Instructions »

What sample applications are included in the SDK?

The SDK includes samples that help you understand how to use the SNAP Mobile APIs. These are:

  • Maze Racer, a complete sample game that demonstrates compliance with the SNAP Mobile SGR and the use of the UI Framework API as well as other key SNAP Mobile features.
  • HelloWorld, which demonstrates login, messaging, and logout from the SNAP Mobile Community server.
  • FriendChat, which demonstrates such activities as inviting friends, accepting friend requests, sending messages to friends, and removing friends.
  • ManualMatchmaking, ChallengeStart, JoinStart, RandomStart, and SortStart, which demonstrate the various matchmaking modes. Each example provides for obtaining a lobbies list, entering a lobby, creating and entering a game room, sending game packet messages, and leaving a lobby or a game room.
  • Presence, which demonstrates presence updates on a user and are sent to all of the user's friends.
  • UploadAssets and ListAssets, which demonstrate game asset-management features.

What documentation is delivered in the SDK?

The SNAP Mobile SDK delivers comprehensive documentation to help you take full advantage of the SDK. These documents are:

  • SNAP Mobile: Getting Started.
  • SNAP Mobile: Game Compliance Testing Guide.
  • SNAP Mobile: Device and Network Test Instructions.
  • SNAP Mobile: Standard Game Requirements.
  • SNAP Mobile API Javadoc™.

Where can I get more information on the SDK’s contents?

The SNAP Mobile SDK data sheet describes the contents of the SDK in detail.
