Forum Nokia Enhances Site’s Information Architecture for Easier Navigation
Responding to suggestions from the development community, Forum Nokia has enhanced the information architecture of its forum.nokia.com for greater usability and easier navigation. These enhancements include new tabs, renaming of certain key content tabs, and
improved secondary navigation.
Among the new tabs is Technology Topics, which includes secondary navigational elements for device platforms, development
platforms, Web technologies, design and user experience, application quality, and mobile technologies. Renamed tabs include
Tools, Documents, and Code. Devices, now a standalone tab, brings visitors directly to technical specifications for current
Nokia devices. In addition, wherever there is secondary navigation within a specific tab, that information will be displayed
on the screen when the visitor mouses over the tab. All of these changes should make it easier to find exactly what you need.
The Forum Nokia team thanks everyone that shared their feedback. Now, take a look and tell us what you think.

Calling All Innovators Contest Adds 'Apps on Maps' Category
The new Calling All Innovators category, called 'Apps on Maps', was announced at the recent Nokia Developer Summit in Monaco.
Developers are invited to submit innovative ideas that harness the power of location-aware services using Ovi Maps on Nokia devices. All submissions for this new contest category
must be based on standard Web technologies; applications for entertainment, travel, gaming, news, and B2B are all eligible.
Ten finalists will be chosen from the entries, and they will be invited to join Nokia in a private beta environment to develop
their apps for Ovi Maps. Once the development phase is complete, these 10 applications will receive premium placement in the new Ovi Store, where
they will be available to millions of Nokia users worldwide. From this group, three final winners will be selected, and they
will have their applications showcased at a major Nokia event. In addition, the Grand Prize winner will receive $30,000, the
first runner-up will receive $15,000, and the second runner-up will get $10,000.
Submit your location-aware applications to the Calling All Innovators contest.

Show Widgets on the Nokia N97 Device Homescreen
Two Forum Nokia Web Runtime (WRT) example applications, AccuWidget Example and RouteWidget Example, have been updated to support the homescreen of the Nokia N97 multimedia device. This Nokia device, based on S60 5th Edition, features a large (3.5-inch) colour display with a resistive touch screen and
tactile feedback. The two WRT widget examples also offer improved usability and memory consumption.
AccuWidget Example lets the user check current weather conditions and short-term forecasts for a selected city. The example
application supports all S60 devices with WRT, both with keypad and touch UI, while the updated version adds support for miniview,
which enables adding the widget on the homescreen.
RouteWidget Example displays the user's current location (latitude and longitude), travelled distance, speed, and number of
GPS satellites. The updated example supports adding the widget on the homescreen, and it is optimised for the touch UI on
S60 5th Edition devices.

Mobile Design Challenge: Share Your Best Design Content
Help increase the number of useful design resources available on Forum Nokia — you could win devices and other valuable prizes.
Forum Nokia's new Mobile Design Challenge seeks useful tips and other information about user interfaces, visual approaches, and interaction design. Eligible categories
include design patterns, UI components, CSS styling tips, mobile Web design, and more. The top contributor will receive a
free copy of Adobe Creative Suite 4 and a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic device. Two runners-up will each receive a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. But hurry: The competition ends 31 May.
To help developers, Forum Nokia has launched two new design resources. The Design and User Experience Library offers basic information on usability, UI components, and design guidelines — even articles on Chinese mobile culture. The
Mobile Design Centre shows developers how good design can lead to successful mobile products. The centre offers developers a design gallery, design
tutorials and templates, layout guidelines, articles on the principles of design, downloadable development tools and technologies,
a developer discussion board, and a wiki.
