Promote Mobile Content on MOSH with Spotlight

Nokia is offering a new way to connect with the global community of MOSH. The program is called Spotlight and helps content creators elevate their brands and mobile content through sponsored placement on MOSH, Nokia's content-sharing site. With thousands of registered users worldwide, MOSH currently receives hundreds of thousands of page views and downloads a day.

Two Spotlight options are available. Premium Spotlight Partners receive premium placement in MOSH's sponsored content, a branded area on both the desktop and mobile sites, banner ads on content-detail pages, special call-outs on browser and search pages, and reports on performance. Spotlight Partners have their mobile content featured in a contextually relevant way as users browse and search the site. If the content matches a user's browsing patterns or search, the content will appear in the Spotlight section.

Mobilize and share with MOSH.

Talk to the LBS Gurus on May 29

Location-based services (LBS) are more compelling when they react to dynamic data, such as the changing location of the user, changes in the weather, flight delays, even the changing location of the user's friends. Gurus from data provider NAVTEQ and LBS developer uLocate will be online for a live Forum Nokia Talk to the Guru session on Thursday, May 29. Developers are invited to join the discussion to learn how to use dynamic data to make their LBS applications and content more compelling than ever.

Talk live to the LBS Gurus: May 29, 9 a.m. PDT/6 p.m. CEST.

How to Create Mobile Videos

Online video is hot, whether as video blogs, how-to videos, news clips, music videos, or any of the other new formats popping up. As a new Forum Nokia article, "Creating Mobile Videos," explains, this video content can be made available on mobile devices. However, mobile developers must make special accommodations for mobile display sizes, network connection speeds, video playback support, device categories, and supported video formats. And with the advent of Flash Lite 3, mobile browsers can now seamlessly play videos from YouTube and other popular Web sites. The new article presents a breakdown of Nokia device categories and supported video formats, information on video distribution, a set of video encoding guidelines, and an example conversion workflow with Adobe Premier Elements 4.0.

Developer Spotlight: uLocate Focuses on Location-Based Widgets

Imagine being able to add applications that give users information based on their current locations. For example, you've just got off a plane; what will the weather be like tomorrow morning? Or: You've never been in this part of the city before, where is the nearest brew pub? uLocate Communications Inc., a mobile-services publisher in Boston, has developed a series of widgets and accompanying platform that run on S60 3rd Edition devices to do just that. More than 40 WHERE widgets are available for Nokia devices, and the platform makes it easy for developers to access a device's global positioning system (GPS) data through an easy-to-use scripting language. In addition, the platform and most of the applications are free to consumers. The world is noticing: WHERE widgets captured three top awards at the 2008 NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge, and uLocate had space in Nokia's booth at the recent CTIA in Las Vegas.
