The updated release provides seven additional APIs, bringing the total number of APIs in the S60 5th Edition SDK to 50. Ideas You Can Use from Developer-to-Developer Interviews

Useful ideas and tips from your fellow mobile developers are featured in a new series of Forum Nokia developer interviews. In the first of the series, Hannu Viitala, a software developer who has been working with Nokia for more than 10 years, discusses why he developed Pen and Paper, his mobile application for drawing on S60 touchscreen devices. 'I have two small kids — 4 and 7 years old — and I wanted an application that would be as easy for them as drawing with a real pen on real paper', Viitala says.

While creating Pen and Paper, Viitala wrote the application in C++ but opted to implement the image thumbnail in the Python open-source programming language. 'The new thing was embedding Python in C++', he says. 'PyS60's C++ API is quite original and takes time to get familiar with.'
