Gerald Madlmayr is a research associate at the NFC Research Lab, Hagenberg. There his work is focused on Near Field Communication (NFC)- and radio frequency identification (RFID)-based applications as well as security and privacy in such systems. He is an authority on NFC technology and applications and actively participates in the standardization of NFC. Within the scope of his job, one of the most sophisticated NFC trials was launched in 2006. His work is mirrored in several international publications, a patent, and the annual NFC Congress in Hagenberg.
Previously, Gerald Madlmayr worked as a visiting researcher at Siemens Corporate Research in Princeton, New Jersey, where he dealt with the design and implementation of Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) systems. Before that, he was part of the innovations department of Siemens Mobile in Munich, Germany. There, he also wrote his diploma thesis, which focused on image processing on mobile devices.
Gerald Madlmayr holds a diploma in media technology from the University of Applied Sciences in Hagenberg and currently is a PhD candidate in computer science at the Johannes Kepler University, Linz, Austria.
